David Cameron’s conference speech was no game changer mainly because it didn’t need to be one. Unlike Gordon Brown, David, and the party, went into this conference with confidence. In public party members attending conference were careful not to look over confident, in private though delegates were extruding confidence and were chomping at the bit for an election.
So, if the speech was not designed as a game changer what was it purpose? Put simply it was designed to clearly articulated his vision for Britain and his government, and not to announce a raft of uncosted policies as Brown did during his conference speech.

Interesting post, TP. But also scary. There seems to be one particular word missing.
The non-Germanic Latin equivalent word is absent, too.

Great minds think alike. I’ve just come across your piece today and thought you might enjoy a recent blog entry of mine in which I compared Gordon Brown’s conference speech and David Cameron’s conference speech by making them both into word clouds. My reason for doing so was to look for clues as to why Cameron is the better speaker and communicator. You can read my blog entry here: http://www.creativityworks.net/why-david-cameron-is-a-better-speaker-than-gordon-brown/

What’s puzzling is that my Wordle word cloud of Cameron’s speech looks somewhat different to yours – not just design-wise but in terms of word frequency. Very odd!
